Golf Holiday Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive at Cape Town International. You’ll be welcomed at the airport by a Golf 2 Africa Guide, who will assist with your luggage and transfer you in comfort to the Table Bay Hotel, located at the V&A Waterfront. Explore the V&A Waterfront at your own pace and return to the hotel after dinner.
Day 2
Once you’ve enjoyed breakfast you’ll be transferred to Arabella Golf Course. This championship parkland course, designed by the celebrated South African golf course architect Peter Matkovich, has spectacular views across the Bot River lagoon and across the Kogelberg mountain range. Arabella offers one of the best and most challenging golf experiences in South Africa.
After golf you’ll be visiting the nearby town Hermanus. This location is regard as the best land based whale watching destination in the world. Enjoy a drink at one of the cafes overlooking the bay and see the majestic giants of the ocean swimming a mere stone’s throw away. Return to the hotel before dinner.
When it’s not whale season, you can opt to visit Cape Point, located at the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve.
Day 3
After breakfast you’ll be visiting some of Cape Town’s famous tourist attractions, including Table Mountain, the penguins at Boulders Beach and the Castle of Good Hope. Return to the hotel before dinner
Day 4
Have a delicious breakfast before your transfer to Royal Cape Golf Course. The Royal Cape Golf Course was designed by Dr Charles Molteno Murray and is the oldest golf course in South Africa. The British General Sir Henry Torrens founded it in 1885. Return to the hotel and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 5
Meet your guide at reception after breakfast. Today you’ll embark on a full day wine tasting tour.
The Cape Winelands are surrounded by majestic mountain ranges and fertile green valleys. The region has a Mediterranean climate and the winter rainfall of the south-western Cape helps producing some of the best wines in the world. Towns and villages in the Cape Winelands have many historic homesteads, museums and monuments to discover.
Visit famous wine estates such as Boschendal and La Motte before returning to the hotel.
Day 6
Check out after an early breakfast. Meet your guide at reception for your transfer to Cape Town Airport, where you’ll board your domestic flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival you’ll be welcomed by a Golf 2 Africa Guide, who will transfer you to Rovos Rail’s Capital Park Station in Pretoria.
Enjoy champagne and hors d’oeuvres before boarding the Pride of Africa. The train departs at 10:00.
Recapture the romance and atmosphere of a bygone era, when privileged travellers experienced the magic and mystery of Africa in a relaxed and elegant fashion. All your meals, drinks, safaris and excursions are included during your Rovos Journey.
Dress code is smart casual during the day and formal attire (tie and jacket) is requested only during dinner.
Day 7 to 13
Rovos Rail has designed a delightful nine-day Golf Safari to entertain the most discerning player. At all venues, there are optional excursions for the entertainment of non-playing guests.
This special journey commences in Pretoria and travels east towards the spectacular Drakensberg escarpment en route to Nelspruit (day 6). Play at Leopard Creek Country Club or enjoy a game drive in the world famous Kruger Park followed by lunch(day 7).
Tee off at the Royal Swazi Golf Club, near Manzini in Swaziland, while non-golfers visit the Ngwenya Glass Factory, lunch at Guava Galleries followed by a game drive in the Mkhaya Game Reserve (day 8).
Then it’s on to Zululand for game viewing in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve (day 9). Play one of South Africa’s finest courses, the Durban Beachwood Country Club, while non-playing guests enjoy a city tour of Durban followed by lunch at the Golf Club (day 10).
In the foothills of the imposing Drakensberg Mountains 18-holes await at the Champagne Sports Resort, with a guided tour of the Battlefields a further highlight for non-golfers (day 11).
Relax as the train travels north towards the magnificent resort of Sun City in the Pilanesberg Mountains (day 12). A full day is spent at this world-famous facility. Golfers will play either Gary Player Country Club or Lost City Golf Course (day 13).
Day 14
Enjoy breakfast and a relaxing morning at on Rovos. Arrive at Capital Park Station at 12:00.
Meet your guide for your transfer back to the airport, where you can do some last minute duty free shopping before boarding your flight back home.
