Golf Holiday Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive at Cape Town International. Collect your luggage and clear passport control. Head to Avis where you’ll collect your hired vehicle and drive to Table Bay Hotel, located at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.

After checking in, you can visit some of Cape Town’s famous landmarks such Table Mountain, Boulders Beach and the Castle of Good Hope.

Day 2

Have a delicious breakfast before teeing off at Royal Cape Golf Course. The Royal Cape Golf Course was designed by Dr Charles Molteno Murray, one of the best known golf architects of his day and is the oldest golf course in South Africa. The British General Sir Henry Torrens founded it in 1885.

Return to the hotel and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 3

Meet your guide at reception after breakfast. Today you’ll embark on a full day wine tasting tour. The Cape Winelands are surrounded by majestic mountain ranges and fertile green valleys. The region has a Mediterranean climate and the winter rainfall of the south-western Cape helps producing some of the best wines in the world. Towns and villages in the Cape Winelands have many historic homesteads, museums and monuments to discover. Visit famous wine estates such as Boschendal and La Motte before returning to the hotel.

Day 4

Enjoy breakfast and head out to Clovelly Golf Course. Once only a nine-hole and mainly sand course, Clovelly was designed by Dr Charles Molteno Murray. Advocate Bobby Lewin was responsible for much of the magnificent landscaping. Today Clovelly is one of the most picturesque 18 hole championship courses in the region.

After golf you can visit the nearby town Hermanus. This location is regard as the best land based whale watching destination in the world. Enjoy a drink at one of the cafes overlooking the bay and see the majestic giants of the ocean swimming a mere stone’s throw away.

When it’s not whale season, you can opt to visit Cape Point, located at the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve.

Day 5

After breakfast you’ll play a round at Westlake Golf Course. Westlake was established in 1932 and offers panoramic views of the Cape Peninsula Mountains. This well manicured parkland layout is recognised as being the best winter course in the Cape, famous for its gentle slopes allowing the rainwater to drain. The fairways are fairly wide and short and this, provided you stay out of trouble, makes for a potentially low scoring round.

Spend the evening relaxing at the V&A Waterfront.

Day 6

Enjoy breakfast and a relax at the hotel before checking out. Return your vehicle to Avis at Cape Town International and board your short domestic flight to George.

Upon arrival you’ll collect your luggage and head over to Avis. Collect your vehicle and drive to Fancourt Golf Resort, home of the 2003 Presidents Cup. A combination of Old World charm and contemporary luxury is what makes the Fancourt Hotel so distinctive. Check in and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 7

Play a round of golf at Fancourt Outeniqua after breakfast. Designed by legendary Grand Slam golfer, Gary Player, it is similar in character to its sibling, the Montagu, and its challenging design and fine conditioning will ensure an excellent test for all levels of golfers.

After golf you explore the surrounding Garden Route area at your own pace. There are many nearby tourist attractions, beaches and places of interest to discover.

Day 8

Tee off at Fancourt Montagu after breakfast. The Montagu is a much celebrated parkland course and has been ranked as the number-one golf course in South Africa in the past.

After golf you can rejuvenate body and mind at the award-winning Fancourt Spa.

Day 9

Enjoy breakfast and drive to the Garden Route Game Lodge for a ranger guided safari departing at 11:00.

Enjoy a thrilling game drive in an open Landrover with your experienced game ranger who will bring you sightings of lion, elephant, white rhino, buffalo, cheetah and much more. Game drives take between 2 and 3 hours depending on how much time is spent at each sighting. There will be a refreshment stop during your game drive at selected look out points on the reserve.

Day 10

After breakfast you’ll be teeing off at Fancourt Links Golf Course. The Links at Fancourt is considered to be the most impressively designed and constructed course in South Africa. Every hole has received detailed attention to ensure that the overall balance in terms of length, position of hazards and shot values are in harmony.

After your round you can relax beside the pool or explore the surrounding area at your own pace.

Day 11

Check out after breakfast and morning at leisure. Return your vehicle to Avis at George Airport and board your short flight back to Cape Town.

Upon arrival in Cape Town, you’ll collect your luggage and head over to international departures where you’ll check in for your flight back home.
