Zimbali Country Club, Balito

Zimbali Golf Course runs alongside the Indian Ocean and boasts spectacular sea view from the 14th through to the 18th. This adds to the scenic beauty of the of course and compensates for the stiff coastal wind that sometimes blows causing the golfer the odd problem or two.

Most of the tees are high on the side of hills or sand dunes. The fairways cut through the valley and the greens, seemingly always at the bottom of the next hill. This makes judging distance a time consuming task, especially for those playing this golf course for the first time.

Mount Edgecombe Country Club, Umhlanga, Durban

Mount Edgecombe Country Club (CC) consists of two championship courses - Mount Edgecombe CC One and Mount Edgecombe CC Two. Both these courses have their own clubhouses with Mount Edgecombe CC Two overlooking the Pani Dam where, if you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the resident fish eagles.

The Mount Edgecombe’s Course One, formerly the Hullets Country Club, was redesigned by Hugh Baiocchi and incorporates a residential estate in an ecologically maintained environment. This is one of the few courses in South Africa designed to USGA specifications.

Course Two has its fair share of water hazards and is fairly undulating but different from its sister course, Course One. This course is a lot wilder in terms of surrounding vegetation and wildlife, with an abundance of birdlife. The fairways are boarded with indigenous trees and shrubs.

Prince's Grant Country Club, Stanger

Prince’s Grant Golf Course is located at the very entrance of KwaZulu Natal’s Zululand region, just 80km outside Durban. This coastal golf course is less than 100m from the sea and offers spectacular views from the dune tops. The course varies between links holes on the dune tops and parklands in the valley. The dune-top holes have some typical links characteristics with many hills, humps and hollows. These holes are unsheltered with many well-placed bunkers.

This course is open and rugged and lends itself well to natural surroundings that wind their way over the hills and through the valleys of a typical Northern Natal coastline. The hills are pretty steep in some places and with holes running from the highest hill right down to the beach, we suggest you take a cart for the not so easy walk.
