Umhlanga means "Place of Reeds" in the Zulu language, referring to the beds of reeds that accumulate on the banks of the Ohlanga river a few kilometres north of present day Umhlanga Rocks. The area used to be part of a coastal dune forest system many years ago and provided sanctuary to a multitude of bird and wildlife species of which many can still be found in bird, marine, and wildlife preserves in and around the area today.
Extremely popular with both local and international tourists, the Umhlanga coastline's warm Indian Ocean and almost year-round perfect weather makes it an idyllic beach holiday location, both in season and out.

Nearby game reserves such as Ubizane Wildlife Reserve boasts a wide variety of game, including white rhino, giraffe, wildebeest, and most species of antelope. You can view the game from the comfort of equipped game viewing Land Rovers, on foot for a more thrilling encounter or on horseback for a wonderfully unique experience.
Nearby are renowned Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve, the oldest in Africa where the Big-5 roam the bush. The Big-5 are made up of lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard.
The Villa
A luxurious double storey 5 bedroom, 3-bathroom house situated in the elite area of Umhlanga Rocks. This fully serviced home,(Monday to Friday excluding public holidays), boasts two lounges, dining room, study, swimming pool and outside entertainment room, with ducted air-conditioning, satellite television, sea views, undercover balcony and ample parking. Beaches only a 5 minute drive away.

Rates are subject to amount of people in group, number and class of vehicles used, amount of golf played and use of golf carts. Early bookings are advised due to high occupancy and demand throughout the year.
