The Estate...
On the southern boundary of the municipality of Stellenbosch, neighbouring the Spier Estate, is a three hundred hectare tract of land made up of three wine farms, Kleine Zalze, Die Vleie and Grootte Zalze, each of which was created by land grants to Dutch settlers in the late 1600's.
De Zalze Golf & Wine Estate is located between Somerset West & Stellenbosch in Cape winelands, South Africa. The winelands golf estate with its 18-hole championship golf course was co-developed by Spier wine estate.
The Development of De Zalze Golf Estate consists of clustered houses in a number of independent ‘villages’ or developmental nodes each with its own individual character. The De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate will consist of 558 plots, ranging in size from 500 to 1 700 square meters.
Peter Matkovich who has made the most of the stunning setting and created a golf course that places a premium on accuracy, designed this golf course at De Zalze Golf Estate. The golf course has an excellent mix of parkland holes with its main defences coming from the water features on several of the holes as well as the Oak tree lined Blaauwklippen River which winds its way through the golf estate and comes into play at various intervals.
